MEMBERSHIP IN THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH:Persons become members of the universal church of Jesus Christ, The United Methodist Church, and the local congregation by baptism - the historic rite of initiation and incorporation. The baptized membership of a local church is made up of all those who have been baptized, regardless of age. This includes persons who have received the sacrament in the congregation, as well as those whose membership has been transferred after receiving Christian baptism elsewhere. Baptism is an act of God who claims individuals as God's own and makes them a part of the body of Christ.United Methodists baptize persons of any age (who have not received the sacrament previously). In accord with Wesleyan understandings of divine grace, the children of church members receive baptism when they are infants. These children are baptized members of the church and both the parent(s) and the congregation are responsible for their nurture and formation in the faith. When they have grown into moral accountability(usually around twelve years of age), they are guided and encouraged to profess their Christian faith in a service of confirmation. Once confirmed, they are professing members of the church.from: 2005-2008 United Methodist Membership Records ManualNEW MEMBER INFO:If you would like to unite with our congregation, please contact the church office (331- 6444) to speak with the pastor.
